What is a prosthodontist?
A prosthodontist is a dentist that has gone through additional training to be a specialist. Dr. Lozano can take care of all your general dental needs with the added benefit of being defined and educated as a specialist in the field of prosthodontics.
A prosthodontist is a dental specialist uniquely qualified to restore the appearance of your smile and help you regain optimum function of your teeth, a skilled architect who can restore optimum function and appearance to your smile and is dedicated to the highest standards of care in the restoration and replacement of teeth.
A prosthodontist is also defined by the American College of Prosthodontists as a dentist who:
- Specializes in the esthetic restoration and replacement of teeth
- Receives two or three years of additional training after dental school
- Restores optimum appearance and function to your smile
Dr. Frank E. Lozano, Jr.
Dr. Frank E. Lozano, Jr. is a specialist in prosthodontic dentistry committed to the esthetic restoration of teeth and implants and an adjunct faculty member at the University of Florida Center for Implant Dentistry in Gainesville, Florida. After graduating from the University of Florida in 2000 with a B.S. in Nutrition, he attended the University of Florida College of Dentistry. While at UFCD, his numerous hours observing in the Center for Implant Dentistry heightened his interest in prosthetic reconstructions using implants and began a passion for dental photography. Following graduation from dental school, Dr. Lozano moved to Dallas, Texas where he completed his Master’s thesis and prosthodontic residency at the Baylor College of Dentistry. Receiving advanced training in both the clinical and laboratory aspects of dentistry, Dr. Lozano continues to work with local dental laboratories frequently lecturing on dental photography, efficient laboratory communication, and providing training on treatment planning to his peers.
He is a member of The North Central Florida Regional ITI Study Club and the American, Florida, and Alachua County Dental Societies.
Dr. Lozano lives in Gainesville with his wife, Melody, and their two sons. He has a passion for photography of all sorts, and spending time outdoors. He and Melody are active members of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he and his wife volunteer.
Dr. Lewis M. Garrish
Dr. Garrish graduated from the University of Florida in 1970 with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. After teaching high school for three years, he continued his education and graduated from the University of Florida College of Dentistry in 1977. Dr. Garrish has been practicing general dentistry since 1977 in Gainesville and is a highly experienced dentist that exemplifies the traditional dental ethics that began the practice now known as Lozano Dental Care. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, and the Central District of Florida Dental Association.
Dr. Garrish enjoys reading about American history, traveling, fishing, and playing golf. He loves attending sporting events especially University of Florida Gator football and basketball games, and the boy's lacrosse matches. Dr. Garrish and his wife, Julie, are raising two teenage boys and his family is involved with the Gainesville community, including helping the disadvantaged and the homeless.
